Le programme des Tape-beatles, copi\u00c3\u00a9 de leur <em>press-kit<\/em> :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We make music that can be made by anyone. We take devices made for reproduction of music; i.e., for passive listening, and deflect them to the task of actively engaging their pseudo-secret possibilities to the production of new listening experiences that may come from the news, but never sounds like it.<\/li>\n<li>We use Plagiarism\u00c2\u00ae to critically expose that we have become what we have. What does it mean to \u00e2\u20ac\u0153own\u00e2\u20ac\u009d an idea? The Tape-beatles maintain that this is symptomatic of a diseased culture and like to quote Thomas Jefferson, third President of the United States:<\/li>\n<blockquote class=\"exq\"><p> He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<li>The much-touted idea of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153originality\u00e2\u20ac\u009d is deeply suspect when, for the past fifty years the art world has been hurling insults at the public, and being very \u00e2\u20ac\u0153original\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in doing so. It isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t sufficient just to be original \u00e2\u20ac\u201d that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s actually quite easy \u00e2\u20ac\u201d the important thing is to be honest and give something useful to society. (Of course, they probably won\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t accept it.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pr\u00c3\u00a9sentation du Radia de lundi :<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Tape-beatles on Radia<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0px\">Music collage from Prague-based duo produced for Radia on behalf of Resonance FM. Selection of works combine voice, loops, and layered sounds.<br \/>\nThe Tape-beatles formed in Iowa City, USA in 1987 and have been based in Prague since 2000, when Lloyd Dunn joined John Heck there. Some works in the program were created during the production of the CD and film Good Times, but were not included. &#8216;Stolen Bicycle&#8217; was created for a uncompleted compilation of works based on DJ Spooky samples. The later portion includes the most recent work, completed June 2007.
